Nissan Foundation’s 2025 Grant Cycle Begins Accepting Letters of Intent

Letters of intent are being accepted by the Nissan Foundation for its 2025 grant cycle. By Friday, November 4, 2024, at 9 p.m. ET, nonprofit groups that meet the requirements for a Nissan Foundation award are encouraged to submit a Letter of Intent. Projects that will take place between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026 are supported by the 2025 Nissan Foundation award cycle.

“For 32 years, the Nissan Foundation has been singularly focused on awarding grants to nonprofits whose programs explore and celebrate cultural diversity and heritage,” says Chandra Vasser, Nissan Foundation President. “It’s our honor to amplify the work of our grantees who are breaking down cultural barriers and reminding audiences, young and old, of our shared humanity.”

Since its establishment in 1992, the Nissan Foundation has given more than 150 nonprofit organizations that promote the numerous advantages diversity offers to society awards totaling around $17 million. Grants totaling $1.2 million were given earlier this year to 44 nonprofit organizations that support cultural awareness as a means of fostering acceptance and appreciation of our diversity. All sponsored programs support the goal of the Nissan Foundation, which is to foster community through appreciation of cultural variety.

The Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, in New Brunswick, is one of the recipients of a 2024 award from the Foundation. The museum’s programming for the Indigenous Identities: Here, Now & Always exhibition will be aided by the Nissan Foundation award. The exhibition, which is curated by Confederated Salish and Kootenai Nation artist Juane Quick-to-See Smith, features artwork from artists who represent over 50 different indigenous tribes in North America.

“The Nissan Foundation’s support is key to Zimmerli’s ongoing efforts to amplify historically unheard voices,” said Zimmerli Art Museum Director Maura Reilly, PhD. “With in-person and virtual events, and educational tools, this yearlong endeavor provides a platform for 95 contemporary Native American artists from across the continent to share their stories and engage with our regional visitors, which will inevitably connect with and impact audiences on a 

The Nissan Foundation requires that organizations fulfill the following requirements in order to be eligible for funding. To have 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and to have been in existence for more than three years. Reflect the mission of Nissan Foundation to build community by valuing cultural diversity. Demonstrate intentional design of programming grounded in the importance and benefits of cultural diversity.

January is when invitations to submit a complete proposal are sent out to organizations. The deadline for proposals is March, and the winners will be revealed in June. Visit the Nissan Foundation page to learn more about the organization, its funding requirements, and its application procedure.
