Nissan Project Trailgater Pushes Tailgating to the Next Level

Nissan Project Trailgater blends the off-road capabilities of the updated 2025 Frontier with a high-tech outdoor tailgating experience, so you can now follow your team and enjoy the great outdoors without having to make that difficult decision. This unique project car will be on display in the public from November 5–8, 2024, at the SEMA event in Las Vegas, along with four additional Nissan experimental cars that will be shown later. In association with “Music City Trucks” on PowerNation TV, Project Trailgater was constructed. The three episodes of the show that cover the build process will air in order on October 14, 21, and 28.

Project Trailgater was developed with sports lovers who want to watch games outside of their living room in mind, and the Nissan Frontier is built to allow its enthusiastic owners to confidently pursue their interests and hobbies. Its premiere in the midst of college and professional football season is indicative of the sport’s ongoing popularity among TV viewers.
With twin 43-inch TVs and a potent sound bar fixed to a NISMO Off Road overlanding rack in the bed, the Project Trailgater concept is fully prepared to stream first downs, touchdowns, and everything in between. The arrangement is made to stream games practically anywhere a satellite or mobile hotspot signal is available. It includes a folding solar panel, a special lithium battery pack and related electronics, as well as a Starlink connection. Snacks are essential at any tailgate, and Project Trailgater provides them with a built-in propane grill that folds out from one of the CargoGlide slide-outs on a specially made hinged mount and fire pit, as well as an integrated Dometic cooler and refrigerator, a fold-out kitchen station, and a sink.
The multiple NISMO Off Road aftermarket components, such as a suspension raise kit, forged upper control arms, high-performance rear shocks, and front coilovers help Project Trailgater improve Frontier’s already remarkable off-road capabilities. A performance cat-back exhaust, a roof rack, Yokohama GEOLANDAR M/T tires, 17-inch Axis beadlock capable wheels, and various extra lights are also available in the NISMO Off Road accessories catalog.
The 2025 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X serves as the basis for Project Trailgater. The midsize truck received a redesign for the 2025 model year that improved its everyday usability, added more straightforward electronics, and enhanced its rugged look. The PRO-X/PRO-4X grades’ redesigned front fascia and wheels complement the visual update, while the SL and PRO-4X grades’ increased availability of the long-wheelbase, 6-foot bed configuration improves usefulness.
Additionally, all grades of the 2025 Nissan Frontier come equipped with a standard telescopic steering wheel, while SV grades and up get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. All Frontier classes have higher maximum tow ratings, with a maximum of 7,150 pounds. Project Trailgater’s foundation, the PRO-4X grade, offers all-terrain tires, a locking rear differential, Bilstein off-road suspension parts, and an even more rugged look with over fenders and Lava Red tow hooks to enable adventure beyond the pavement.
