The Nissan Pavilion, an interactive entertainment facility that was recently opened in Japan from August 1st to October 23, 2020, has won the Bronze Prize of Japan Kukan Design Awards. The word Kukan in Japanese means space, and Nissan has taken one of the prizes for best spaces in all of Europe. Nissan intended to showcase its initiatives to create a better world for people keeping the environment’s safety as a priority. The space served for visitors to see, feel, and get inspired by Nissan’s near-future vision for society. With the introduction of the all-electric 2022 Nissan Ariya crossover and the new logo change, the automaker is looking forward to a future with zero emissions.

The Japan Kukan Design Awards first started in 2019 after JCD and DSA merged their longstanding design awards to create the JKD awards. The award given to the Nissan Pavilion was the Kukan Design Award, which was made to honor the best space in Japan and all over Europe. The event is sponsored by the Japan Commercial Environmental Design Association and the Japan Space Design Association. Both companies have continued to support the initiatives in aid of the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations. The judges were to observe the level of sustainability, timeliness, creativity, sociality, culture, and design.

In the interest of keeping the Pavillion with the highest levels of sustainability, Nissan uses solar panels that generate electricity for their Cafe and small shops. On top of that, buyers arriving in electric vehicles were able to pay their parking fee with electricity from their vehicle. The automaker wanted to show the people how energy may become some type of currency in the future. The Nissan Pavilion also uses old Leaf batteries to power the lights, toilet bowls, turning the batteries into renewable sources. The rest of the electricity for the facility is derived from 100% hydropower, making it yet another zero-emission facility for Nissan.

The 2022 Nissan Ariya will feature standard trims with a single motor that can generate a hefty 215 horsepower. Upgrading to the dual motors offered by Nissan buyers can enjoy 389 horsepower with instant acceleration. The available ProPILOT Assist 2.0 helps drivers control that exhilarating power with all-climate traction, Driver lane assistance, and Steering Assist. Buyers also receive Navi-link which syncs with the navigation system that provides additional information to better predict traffic and speed limit changes. The Ariya’s Dual motors do not generate the same amount of heat as a conventional engine so Nissan adds a seamlessly-integrated front grille imbued with the Kumiko traditional 3D pattern.

The all-new front grille Nissan logo is made of 20 bright LED lights powered by the latest in battery technology, by positioning key components below the loading floor Nissan leaves more engine space. The battery is located under the floor of the Ariya to guarantee 50:50 weight distribution to help with handling. The 2022 Ariya offers two different battery options, a standard 63 kWh battery which is perfect for local daily drives, and an 87 kWh battery that better suits those traveling farther distances or trips. When equipped with the 87 kWh the 2022 Ariya can offer up to 300 miles of range on one charge. Interested in finding out more about the 2022 Nissan Ariya?
